Selected Projects

Here's a selection of some of my favorite science communication projects. I make content for all ages, using storytelling and humor to convey the science of our everyday lives.

Here's a full list of my SciShow writing credits.

I've partnered extensively with Galactic Polymath, FunSize Physics, and Jackson Wild. Visit their sites to learn more! I'm also the President and Co-Founder of WOW STEM, an online learning platform dedicated to 7-12th grade girls.

This unit, designed for high school science classrooms, explores the energy all around us, methods of energy generation, and the Māori energy-independence movement across Aotearoa New Zealand. We built an ambitious unit around Māori perspectives on sustainability that guides students through three hands-on, power-generating labs and an web-game to simulate energy mixes for off-the-grid communities.

How can small communities consistently obtain clean drinking water? We built a non-linear, choose-your-own-adventure, blended learning chemistry lab to help students explore this question through a Pacific lens. Students identify & remove impurities in water samples as they embody different STEM career roles.

Crystals aren't magic, but they are amazing! In this student-driven, lecture-free lesson, students will do card sorts, build hands-on models, solve engineering design puzzles, and more! The whole experience is connected through a beautifully crafted comic and supporting videos.

"Even equipped with sophisticated telescopes and lots of hardworking scientists, “what is dark matter?” remains one of the biggest questions in physics and astronomy today. Dr. Chanda Prescod-Weinstein is a theoretical cosmologist/particle physicist/ astrophysicist who is determined to be part of the answer."

How a quest for gold gave us sparkles in the sky: alchemists accidentally created gunpowder (and consequently fireworks) during a failed attempt to make the elixir of life. But this failure actually ended up being a huge innovation!

"How does a seed know which direction is “up” so that it can reach toward the sun? How does a plant know to grow a leaf? These kinds of questions captivated a scientist named Marie Clark Taylor."
